Employment Contracts
Since April 2020 Under Section 1 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 employers are required to provide their employees with a written statement of their terms and conditions of employment on or before the first day of employment. This written statement comprises a contract of employment and must include all the main terms of employment such as pay, working hours, sickness pay, holiday entitlement and benefits.
Determining the employment status of your workforce involves applying relevant legal tests and can be a complex process. With the traditional employer/employee relationship having evolved to include zero hours, casual working, remote and flexible working as well as considerations of IR35 and tax it is more important than ever to get your contracts right. Our experienced HR Consultants will advise you on which employment rights apply and will work with you to review and revise your contracts to ensure they are tailored to your business, industry and type of roles within your workforce.
HR Policies and Staff handbooks
HR policies and procedures are important to set expectations and demonstrate your compliance with key legislation such as the Equality Act 2010. They must reflect current best practice and keep up with changes in the law, helping you to avoid tribunal claims. Policies and procedures need to be easily accessible to all staff. Our team will work with you to develop and implement these documents as well as proactively advising our clients on upcoming changes in employment law which may instigate changes.
Company Inductions
An effective company induction is essential for staff retention. One of the leading contributors to high turnover of staff and dissatisfaction results is a poorly managed induction process. We will work with you to create a personal and professional introduction to your business which explains your company culture, set standards, and provides employees with essential information they will need throughout their employment.
“Creating and communicating robust and effective HR Policies is the cornerstone of HR best practice and essential to provide clarity on your expectations, and manage risk and compliance issues.”
